The Princess Royale has two parties planned for New Year’s Eve. There is a jacket and coat affair with a gourmet meal and live entertainment in the Palmetto Ballroom and a great buffet with a fantastic menu and live entertainment in the Atrium. Both parties have a 6-hour bar, party favors, champagne toasts at midnight and good food. The Princess Royale is the place to be for world class celebrating!
If you prefer a nice dinner and celebrating in your own suite, consider Schooners Restaurant, or room service and have a beautiful evening overlooking the sea.
Of course, there are other options if you want to go out. At the stroke of midnight, the town will set off the annual fireworks display. If you have never seen it, you should. You may enjoy the Winter Lights Tour. It features light displays of more than a million lights. It was voted Maryland’s Finest Tradition. It is really pretty. They even serve you hot chocolate and bring in entertainment.
The annual Penguin Swim takes place on January 1st people raise money by taking a swim in the cold Atlantic ocean. The money they raise is donated to the Atlantic General (not-for-profit) Hospital.
January 1st is also the Mayor’s Open House. The theme this year is “Come, Walk All Over Us.” There are displays from the fire department, police department, beach patrol, and emergency services. Meet the mayor and the city council. This has been a much-loved tradition in Ocean City since 1997. You can learn the history of this great city.
